The Sustainability & Food Waste Working Groups focuses on providing education on food waste, working toward identifying incentives for businesses and individuals to reduce waste, and coordination across neighborhoods, farms and businesses to prevent food waste via food distribution and compost opportunities.
Restaurants, bakeries and producers often have surplus food. Instead of seeing excess food end up in a landfill, PCFA is working to improve connection, communication and coordination between businesses, nonprofits, mutual aid groups, and individuals to meet food needs and reduce waste.
